Apparently Doctor Who reaction posts are the cool kid thing to do?

So tonight I watched the new episode with a friend who had never watched DW before, so afterward, we backed up and watched S5E01 to give her a little more backstory for future episodes, and then we watched Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead at my request because I'd never seen either and refuse to watch them without someone else present.

And then I had to walk home in the dark, where I literally jumped at shadows, and I turned the volume on cell phone to loud and STILL was hyper-aware of everything around me all the time (honestly, if I had been this ware of my surroundings when I was back in school, I wouldn't EVER have to worry about being mugged) and I recoiled from a random guy just because he kind of shuffled his steps for a moment and that freaked me out.

And then I had to go up the STAIRS and into my ROOM.

I am going to watch an episode of a NOT SCARY show and eat ice cream and may even go to sleep with the lights on! Hopefully this wears off by tomorrow. I really need to get over my fear of the dark, but Doctor Who episodes do NOT help with that.

And now for my spoilery thoughts.

1. I love Amy and Rory and River and the Doctor. And Mark Sheppard. Even if I thought his American accent was ridiculous and I wonder if this what American actors' British accents sound like to British people. I mean, it was his combination of his accent and the way I felt like he proclaimed everything instead of said it, which was hilarious. But also, I was sitting with the speakers right next to my ears, so this may affect my perception.

2. I'm sorry, but when the Doctor died, I cracked up. It was a combination of the disbelief and the fact that it takes me longer than 15 minutes to really get into a story. If you put a death at the end of the episode and I've been taken on an emotional roller coaster, I cry at the drop of a pin. Put something at the beginning, when I'm not properly settled into the right TV-watching-and-living mentality, and it just comes off as absurd.

3. I extra love River and just read a fanfic two days ago that practically SUMMED UP her monologue today, and so that was super weird. And watching her in Silence in the Library made me love her more.

4. Dear Doctor Who, stop scaring me. As I observed to my friends, I would NOT make a good companion. I'd stay on the TARDIS the whole time cowering in terror. I think the only episode in Season 5 that didn't reduce me to a quivering ball of fear at some point was the two-part seasons finale.

5. Oh, so when the Doctor (from the future) died, I was totally like, "That's rude." Because Moffat just made it so that (unless he has a plan to undo this) there can be no Doctor after Matt Smith without some twisty plot-wrangling.

6. You know, I was super-annoyed with the Doctor for not trusting River in this ep or in Silence in the Library but also if I were in his position I would also not trust anyone.

Oh, so when the Doctor (from the future) died, I was totally like, "That's rude." Because Moffat just made it so that (unless he has a plan to undo this) there can be no Doctor after Matt Smith without some twisty plot-wrangling.

Which I'm absolutely certain is not his intention, if for no other reason than the BBC would never let him (and also he loves the show). So from a Doylian perspective, I'm not that worried (though I may get progressively more worried over the course of the season, because it's Moffat and he's good at worrying me).

Just FYI, Moffat has said in interviews that this is the show's scariest season ever, so you might want to plan on watching it in daylight if you can!
