Letter to 三国 (aka yes, I started watching Three Kingdoms ...)

Dear 三国,

Okay, so I never read the book, so I don't know how much of the following is book-canon and how much is invented to make the show more exciting but ...

1.) Seriously. Why does 曹操 always sound like he's drunk? He always over-enunciates everything. It's that thing where they are careful with everything they say because thye know they're too drunk to say things without messing up.
2.) Also, why does 曹操 suck at assassination? Seriously. HE was right in front of you, asleep, and you had a super-magical-knife.
3.) I mean, 曹操 is just not very impressive in general. Isn't he supposed to be super-awesome? Here, it seems like everything is just incidental. I decided I want a country of my own just because I happened to kicking my heels in jail? I'm still not sure why 陈宫 suddenly decided to follow him either. Just ... because?
4.) It probably doesn't help that that entire conversation was in 成语. I mean, it's hard enough figuring out their archaic language, you want to have an entire conversation in 成语?
5.) Also, did 陈宫 seriously bid farewell to his crickets as opposed to, say, his family? (I suppose it was a symbolic farewell that represented a farewell to his family, but still. It's one thing to get yourself killed for your political beliefs, it's another things to get EVERYONE ELSE IN YOUR FAMILY killed.)
6.) Is there a reason 董卓 continually refers to himself as 咱们? I mean ... is that supposed to be a sign that he's got lower-class upbringing/mannerisms? Is this a historical thing? I'm pretty sure it's not a historical thing, actually, because I'm pretty sure nobody else in every other historical drama I've ever watched does this -- is it an artistic choice on the part of the director? Is this book-canon?

I can't wait until 诸葛亮 shows up, though I don't know if I can last this long. 95 episodes is so long ... once I lose momentum, I don't know if I'll make it through to the end.

Anyways, so far not impressed with 曹操, and I'm waiting for you to show up with the cool characters already!

I don't think he sucks at assassination as much as he didn't want to lose his life in the process so was being (too) careful :)

re: jail time. I think he was buttering crickets-guy up - it was clearly all about ambition from the start for him. Also, if I were cricket guy's wife and got beheaded because he was an idiot, I'd haunt him foreeeever.

Since crickets-guy is already on the run, and he has a reward out for his head and everything, his family's probably ... all already dead, right? I know when he had his whole "They are dead to me" speech I was supposed to admire his willingness to sacrifice for the cause and/or his patriotism or whatever, but I was kind of really appalled. At least the Chancellor guide notified his servant to tell everyone to run away when he thought his family would be executed.
