So I think it'd be really interesting to see a study about how popular culture (in books, films, media people read/watch to enjoy and not just to educate themselves) has portrayed emotions (as something that clouds your judgment vs. as something that gives you the impetus to keep on going when you would normally give up) through the ages.

Just, I've seen them as both, in positive and negative lights, in different media and was wondering if there were any trends as to whether certain countries/trends/eras were more likely to produce one over the other.
