One of my favorite fanfiction authors decided to try his hand at the Harry Potter fandom.
And in doing so, he decided to choose a very cliche plot (Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Snape rescue Harry from the Dursleys) with the usual over-characterization of the Dursleys as horrible and not as frightened of magic as they should be, and the entire Dumbledore-didn't-know-Harry-was-being-treated-badly, and a couple of ... just, very ... annoying, cliche things. And he's a great writer, so it's a well-written cliche, and the few mistakes he made I can excuse him because he admits at the beginning he is not familiar with the exact names of the spells, etc, and is awaiting his readers' remarks and corrections, and I want to leave him a review, but I don't want to tell him I don't like it because then I'd feel bad and .... *sigh*
Yes. Very complicated.
