Thoughts Upon Reread, Chapters 17-20
Jul. 22nd, 2007 02:26 amThe more engrossed I get, the fewer notes, so ...
Ch. 17
-Grafitti is the secret message of the people, in the Discworld, and I'd like to think the messages to Harry represent the secret thoughts of the magical people.
-Also, I KNEW the Bathilda was suspicious. She didn't talk!!!
-The description of the Potters' deaths made me tear up, I will admit.
Death toll: Bathilda Bagshot
Total: 5
Ch. 18
-Nurmengard sounds like Nuremberg and smacks of Auschwitz, esp. with the slogan ... They're really playing up the Grindelwald/WWII angle. I know many of considered the fact that that Grindelwald was defeated in 1945 and WWII ended in 1945 to mean that the two (Grindelwald and the Axis powers) were inextricably linked. Here's more proof for them, I suppose.
-Harry's tantrum at the end is just ...
Death toll: None
Total: 5
Ch. 19
-How does Hermione know all these forests? I feel like she's always the one choosing Apparition destinations.
-Following the doe is stupid on Harry's part, was my first instinct. But after consideration, I decided that the doe was a Patronus, and if it had attempted Harry into ambush, the Sneakoscope would have gone off. As it was, true intentions ...
-*sigh* Ron's so silly.
-I teared up at the reunion. So touching ...
-He heard Hermione say something about "Ron" and a "wand", eh?
-Birds! They referenced the birds!
Death toll: None [Unless you count a fragment of Voldemort's soul, which I don't]
Total: 5
Ch. 20
-Ron's scared of Hermione. That's so sweet.
-They're democratic! I <3 that Ron suggested voting as well as that he is trying to butter up Hermione
-I can only imagine what state Ron was in when Bill found him. Fanfic, anyone?
-Snargaluff = ?
-I suspected Xeno's betrayal, I'm afraid, if only because he was acting suspiciously and was, as Hermione pointed out, being somewhat of a hypocrite. But then, in the next chapter, he tells them everything they want to know, so I didn't realize.

Date: 2007-07-26 02:51 am (UTC)I thought of the WWII thing too! The first time I saw it, I thought the name was Nuremberg...until after further rereading.
Ron did come back...just like I suspected from the moment he left.
And the democratic bit? I think it has to do with the gift he gave Harry for his birthday. :)
I think they learned about Snargaluff during Herbology.
