Ch. 1
-peacocks!
-Hmmm ... the salute sounds very Heil Hitler-esque, in my imagination.
-Thicknesse is a terrible last name -- he must have been teased so much as a kid.
-Voldemort attributing his failures to luck and chance --> we learned about this psychological tendency in my IR class last semester.
-Did we ever learn who the wailing prisoner was, exactly?
-Lucius Malfoy certainly got more than he bargained for.
-"No higher pleasure" -- is Lord V. being sarcastic or not?
-So apparently Narcissa ruled the roost, as was hinted at in Book 6.
-Well, I'd never heard about this Hogwarts prof. until now.

Ch. 2
-Did we ever figure out the deal with that teacup?
-What exactly is a rucksack? What does it took like? Just like a backpack?
-Hmmm .... symbolism of what the locket cost to obtain --> nice touch.
-Charity Burbank mention!
-Upon reflection, Elphias Doge does sound like such a suck-up. He is to Dumbledore as Pettigrew was to James, except maybe minus the evil bit.
-Also, Harry's apparently continual reread of this article is just a little bit creepy.
-Why did nothing HAPPEN in this chapter?

Ch. 3
-What is a "boot"?
-The moment whne both Vernon and Harry wonder if he would rescue them if they were held hostage is very ... not poignant, but perhaps well-placed?
-Hestia Jones's self-righteousness is kind of annoying
-Dudley's the source of the tea, then? I see. Trying to give him feelings at the last minutes is kinda ... how DID the summer before sixth year go? I don't really remember.
-Drat, now I want ot reread the "Remember my last" scene.
-Yanno, I'm kinda surprised JKR thought to wrap up loose ends like the Dursleys like that. I'd've thought she'd forgotten about them.

Ch. 4
-I want to see Hermione with braided hair now!
-"even Mundungus, whom he had tried to strangle the last time they met ..."
-I <3 Fred and George.
-"tastier than Carbbe and Goyle" ... maybe Polyjuice also represents the essence of a person?
-Naked Harrys everywhere! Cover your eyes! (Though if you wanted to see him naked, you could just watch Equus ...)
-Harry + Hagrid = stupidity + stupidity <-- whose brigh idea was this pairing?
-Poor Ron, feeling up Tonks
-Well, that was fast. Ambushed immediately.
-At least Hagrid's smart enough to keep going.
-And ... stupidity strikes again. Hagrid + magic = disaster. Once again, who thought this pairing would actually work?
-I still don't understand how disarming one person makes him the REAL Harry Potter. (I also don't know where Harry's morals go later on, when he's casting Unforgivables left and right, but ...)
-And how did the wand thing work? I must've missed the explanation on my first read-through, I just remember a lot of confusion about it ...
-Aw, I thought Harry was going to push the button with his nose!

Only got through 2 chapters of the re-read before I fell asleep, and got through two more chapters this afternoon. This is apparently all I will be doing this weekend.

Date: 2007-07-26 02:31 am (UTC)The teacup was left there by Dudley, as a present. Dudley wanted to be nice to Harry, be friendly.
And a rucksack is like those Adidas bags that have the drawstring on top...I think.
Are you sure you are all right? I always thought your British knowledge was a bit better than mine. A "boot" is the trunk of a car.
And when did Expelliarmus become Harry's specialty attack? I honestly don't remember this.
