I feel like an old fogey because I keep on thinking to myself, "You know, I could swear things were better [a.k.a. people cared more, the dance teachers were better, the dances were better, the students could actually speak Chinese when they had to announce what the next event was and knew how to refrain from speaking monotonously, the adults didn't monopolize as much of the events, etc.] when I was in Chinese School ..."

it's not because we're old; it's because the world is shot to hell and students nowadays are getting complacent and lazy and don't care anymore, not that we cared, but we could blow by, and now they're letting in all of these non-Chinese people too, what the fuck? and, like all institutions, once the forefathers trip off with each passing generation the ideas get warped and mutilated until we end up with something like the Patriot Act...
