You know, I like Bones, I really do. It was the first crime procedural I got hooked on, and even now, after I've dropped NCIS, I've dropped Castle, I've dropped Hawaii Five-O, I've dropped Psych, but I'm still watching this season of Bones because I have a lot of affection for it and all its characters. And I really like the Bones-Booth dynamic in terms of the emotional/rational divide.
Tonight, when I watched Bones being all pregnant and her and Booth being all couple-y, I was delighted at how cute it was (which is a pleasant contrast from last season, where the Bones/Booth-iness always seemed rather WTF and out of left field -- I mean, the pairing was inevitable but the way they were suddenly sleeping together and suddenly pregnant didn't build quite as well as all the lovely UST had).
In other words, I really do love all the characters in Bones.
SO WHY DO THE WRITERS FOR THIS SHOW MAKE SUCH POOR DECISIONS.
WHY does this show find it necessary to punish Bones for being rational? I like that about her! I often feel that the "emotional" arguments that Booth and Angela make are stupid. (I love Angela, but I feel the show often doesn't know what to do with her and makes some weird character choices for her -- case in point, the entire "adopting a pig" storyline from that one episode, or the bizarre reason I still don't understand for why she and Hodgins broke up in the first place.)
I think that
1.) You don't have to move in with someone just because you're having a baby.
2.) If you do move in, you don't HAVE to buy a new apartment in a bad economy when both of you have your own apartments and you could just move your stuff in to one place.
3.) STOP MAKING ANGELA AND BOOTH PUNISH BONES FOR NOT UNDERSTANDING THE "LESS RATIONAL" AND "EMOTIONAL" MOTIVATIONS AND OPINIONS THAT THEY HAVE. Especially because I, the audience, am almost always siding with Bones and I never side with Booth or Angela. Because I don't understand their motives and opinions either.
I really don't understand the choices that the show was trying to push today but things that people "have" to do when they are in a relationship and anyone who doesn't conform to that is automatically Strange and Weird.
In other words, Bones, I want to love you. It would be really easy for me to love you. Just stop punishing Bones for being awesome.
