I console myself with the fact that Cat Street is only 6 episodes long, and each episode is less than an hour, so it's not as bad as when I marathoned Maramalade Boy, or Bones.
I am very miffed. Not just that they changed the plot. that is to be expected. Condensing the plot of Cat Street into 6 episodes is difficult.
But they cut out Rei! Or rather, they combined him and Kouichi into one character. And by doing so, got rid of half of the reasons I backed Kouichi-the-dark-horse in the Kouichi-Keito-Rei love triangle in the first place.
Also, they got rid of the whole Keito-Taiyou's girlfriend friendship thing that resolved the Taiyou thing so neatly.
And, and, and ... and while the actress played listless-Keito very well, she didn't really pull of lively-Keito convincingly, in my opinion.
Also, since I'm ranting, can I just roll my eyes at Kitchen Princess (manga) killing off the boring brother in the love triangle. They did that in Touch (and it got so much boring after the boring twin died in Touch), but at least they'd developed more of a love triangle, and this was just sloppy. In my humble opinion.
