Letter to Dream High, Episode 14

Dear Dream High,

I love you.

I love you for a few reasons. First of all, I love that even though Pil Suk initially lost weight for Jason, she rejected the final act of actually making it all about him, and she had that whole soapbox bit about how it was a lot of work and she decided he wasn't worth it all and (I inferred), she did it for herself.

And then, most recently, I really like what you did with the Baek Hee storyline. Specifically, when addressing the fact that Baek Hee was assaulted, having both Shi-teacher and Hye Mi on her team was well done, specifically the way they both understood the risks that she faced. I have no idea if the tendency in South Korea to blame the victim is at all similar to the one in the U.S., but Shi-teacher specifically very explicitly laid it out for anyone who might not know, all the consequences of a (any) sexist culture where victims are unfairly victimized/blamed and affected. I love love love that Hye Mi was on Baek Hee's side even though she's going out with Jin Guk, because she also understands the myriad consequences that Baek Hee would face in the entertainment world, as well as on a private level. (Have I mentioned that I love the friendship between Baek Hee and Hye Mi, even if Baek Hee got slightly murderous in the middle of it, and I want them to remain friends?!?!)

And then I love that Baek Hee went to the police in the end (because I think that the president should DIE IN A FIRE, GET RESURRECTED, AND DIE AGAIN), and that it was her personal choice that she made on her own, not with anyone having to persuade/convince her.

All you need to do in the next few episode is give me my Jin Guk/Hye Mi ending (the Jason/Pil Suk is pretty much guaranteed, I think).

ETA:You know what else I love? Happiness and friendship, and happy friendship trumps it all. (I mean, OTPs are nice and all, but friendship is amazing.) So I love the scene where everyone sits down to lunch together because they are all FRIENDS. I love the scenes where Jin Guk and Sam Dong are friends, where Hye Mi and Baek He are friends, where Hye Mi and Pil Suk are friends, even the very brief minor scenes were Jason is friends with Jin Guk/Sam Dong. I just want everyone to be friends forever.

Love,
A Fan

I loved episode 14 for all the reasons that you did. I was so pleasantly surprised when the consequences of Baek Hee telling the truth were laid out so explicitly. And, yes to the happiness and friendship parts! I almost wish there weren't romances in this drama, because at times they seem to get a bit cliched, and the focus was 100% on all the various friendships.
